Options: the false illusion of abundance

Options. We like having them. It gives us this false illusion of abundance, as if there is 'plenty' of a thing. And sometimes the more options we have, the harder it becomes to commit to something or someone, because one sounds a lot more limiting than ten or twenty.

In this day and age we are all bombarded with options. We have options in love and romance, options in career, countries where you could see yourself living, clothes to wear, food to choose from a menu. So naturally you'd think this should make our lives easier and lead to greater fulfilment?

Well, wrong. You know what the psychology is of having options? The more options you have, the less fulfilment you're going to get from anything you choose. Because your mind will always go: but I could have this, and have that. So you're never settled in any of your choices, as you're too busy wondering whether you made the wrong choice, or whether something or someone better is just around the corner.

The truth is, fulfilment doesn't exist as a byproduct of options. Fulfilment is reflective of how aligned you are with your Truth. When you live intuitively you don't have multiple options, you only have one, because you know exactly what feels true to you. Everything else won't even be worthy of your consideration.

So fewer options equals greater satisfaction.

You know what reduces options, and increases one's level of fulfilment? Complete commitment to one choice. Think about it.
